VIDEO AND MOTION
As a writer, I’ve always been drawn to the storytelling power of time-based visuals—namely, film/video and motion. I learned to visualize, storyboard and direct in the world of commercial/corporate video, marveling at the emotive power derived from combining movement, sound and editing—not to mention strategic use of focal lengths, POV and camera movement (pan, tilt, track, etc.). I’ve also studied and taught the Twelve Principles of Animation that were developed by legendary Disney animators. I began putting this knowledge and experience to use in my own productions, which include short documentaries, animations, promotional videos and narrative shorts.
These Paintings Cast Shadows is a process documentary created in collaboration with Serdar Arat. I shot, edited and scored the film. It was screened at the Galari Nev, in Istanbul, Turkey.
The Grin is an Alice and Wonderland themed short animation made for a German PR firm. I drew and animated the video with Flash.
An example of my earlier corporate work, this is a set of four short videos called The Laughing Boardroom. Created to promote the IBM I-Series server, I wrote, co-directed and scored the videos.

This piece was created for display on the massive marquee at the Boston Convention Center on behalf of the Fort Point Open Studios. I used After Effects to animate an event logo created by the acclaimed designer Clif Stoltze. Here’s how it looked on the marquee.
System Preferences represents another collaboration. This innovative, animated documentary by artist Anya Belkina tells the story of her grandfather role as a key figure in Soviet computing. For this film, I was only responsible for sound design.
This is a promotional video I shot and edited for Mona Awad's new novel, BUNNY, which was released on June 11, 2019 by Viking Press, Penguin Canada and Head of Zeus in the UK.
